Class description
A block of 4 intermediate level wheel lessons. This class is suitable for those who have completed the beginners extension wheel class, and practised for some time since then Fiona will teach additional techniques and different shapes, providing guidance after demonstrating each week’s shape. Students will provide their own clay for themselves, but firings fees are included. Students will trim and finish their pots outside of the class. Week 1: Throwing larger How to centre 2 kg of clay or more. Opening up clay to make a large platter. Opening up clay to form a large fruit bowl Week 2: Throwing fluted vase Centre 1.5kg of clay and pull a tall vase. Use cutting wire to add fluting. Shape the vase. Week 3: Throwing chip and dip platters and lemon juicers Two projects with the same technique on different amounts of clay. A chip and dip platter from about 2.5kg of clay. Forming a dip bowl in the middle. A lemon juicer from about 600g. The juicer centre will have ribbing added Week 4: Throwing Moon vases Throwing 3 to 5 Moon vases of increasing amounts of clay. Starting with 500g and finishing with 1.5kg. Moon vases are tricky especially once the clay amount increases. Taught by Fiona McLeod, a Whanganui based full time potter. Cancellation Policy
Full payment of all class, workshop, or course fees is required at the time of booking to secure your spot. A booking is not confirmed until full payment has been received through the studio's online booking system or an alternative agreed payment method. If you need to withdraw, you must email whanganuipotters@gmail.com. Withdrawing more than 1 week before classes or courses begin: full refund less Stripe transaction fee Withdrawing within 1 week or less, or after beginning the course: no refund Enrolments can be transferred up to 1 week prior to course starting, subject to availability. Those wishing to transfer their enrolment must email WPS with their contact details and what they would like to transfer to. Classes/workshops require a minimum number of participants to run. If that's not meet one week prior, it may be cancelled or rescheduled. Participants will be offered a full refund, or a transfer to an equivalent class.
