About the event

Art in the Garden is a yearly market created by Whanganui Potters Studio to celebrate outdoor & garden art. The focus is outdoor art, but artists of all kinds are welcome to apply to attend and sell their art.

 

This year Art in the Garden will take place on Sat 30th Nov to Sun 1 Dec, 10am - 4pm, 15a Caversham Rd.

How the event works

Exhibitors set up stalls dotted around the property on Friday 29th Nov. The event is widely marketed, and the general public visit between 10am - 4pm Sat 30th Nov & Sun 1st Dec. Exhibitors return after the crowds leave, and collect any unsold items.

Exhibitor information: How do I apply to take part?

  • You need to fill out the event application form below with all necessary information

  • Once we receive your application, we will process it and contact you about whether you've been accepted.

  • If you are accepted, you'll receive our exhibitor pack with further details and the event registration form.

I'm not a ceramic artist. Can I register and exhibit? 

The focus is outdoor and garden art. If your art can exist happily outside in all weather, then you are most welcome to apply to join the exhibition. We have very limited indoor space available on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Artwork requirements

  • Each piece needs to be labeled with your initials, a unique number, and your price. 

  • All artwork must be recorded on the exhibitor registration form, along with exhibitor information.

  • Your completed registration form must be handed in at the sales table

Event set-up

Pieces must be dropped off, and exhibition space set up between 10am and 6pm on Friday 29th November 2024. You will need to supply your own table if needed.

 

Marquees/Gazebos

You are welcome to bring marquees or gazebos, but with the following conditions

  • Marquees and gazebos must be set up without walls. This is to keep the garden space open and free-flow

Self promotion

We request you don't use this as a business marketing/promotional event. This means company signage or promotional material. However, we encourage business cards or labels with your contact details. Buyers are often interested in who you are, and how to contact you.​

Will my work be checked for correct labelling? 

Yes. Please ensure that all pieces are individually marked with weather-proof tape (duct tape or similar) and permanent marker. The label must include member’s initials, piece number and price.

What happens if I have unlabelled pieces?

100% percent of proceeds of unlabelled/unnumbered items sold will be donated to WPS :)

 

How many pieces can I bring?

There is no limit to the number of pieces you can display.

What commission does Whanganui Potters Studio take?

Whanganui Potters Studio charges a commission of 20%. 

 

How and when will I get paid?

Proceeds from all sales will be made by bank transfer to participants. You'll get paid as soon as we process our sales records. This could take around a week.

 

Do I have to attend or volunteer help over the weekend?

If you are not a Whanganui Potters Studio member, you are not required to attend or volunteer. WPS members taking part are required to help. If you want to help out over the weekend, you are most welcome to, and your help would be gratefully appreciated.

What do you mean I don't have to be there?

That's right, you drop your items on the Friday then pick up unsold ones on Sunday after 4pm. Visitors can wander as they like around the garden, discovering items wherever they may be. If you would like to help out, you are most welcome to,

Demonstrations

Our â€‹visitors love seeing how various artworks are created. If you are interested in demonstration, please let us know.

Unsold items

Unsold items must be collected from the venue on Sunday 1st December 2024, between 4.00p.m. and 6.00p.m. or Monday 2nd December 2024, between 10.00a.m. and 12.00p.m. Collection is the exhibitor's responsibility.

 

Loss and damage

All care will be taken to ensure the protection and security of members’ property. However, no responsibility can be taken for losses. We suggest that exhibitors arrange their own insurance cover if necessary.
